Mojito
I think this Cuban drink must fast be becoming the most popular drink in the world, everywhere I go it’s on special somewhere, I never really ordered one as I always thought the minty bit seemed a bit weird and I’m not that keen on rum but then I had to start making them, so obviously I had to try what I was making and I was more than pleasantly surprised.
The lime masks the rum flavour and the minty bit is pleasantly refreshing, having said that I should have know it would be great considering it’s so popular. (Go Cuba with your cigars and Drinks, and funky old cars)
So anyway my version is a little different than an original but I think I’ve mastered it, for my tastes at least; and my friends say they love them too.
You will need a blender for my version.
Sugar syrup 200ml
Freshly squeezed lime juice, 4 limes (no cheats there really is no substitute for real lime juice and this way at least you get some vitamin C as well)
Mint leaves 10
Bacardi Rum, I could give an amount but everyone knows their own limits best so add however much you can handle.
Ice; fill the blender up to about the 500ml mark.
Blend all the ingredients in short sharp spurts so that you don’t make it a completely frozen drink, just a crushed ice drink.
Taste before you serve, you may want more sugar syrup or lime or mint it really depends on your tastes but this is how I like it.
